We are very happy to have with us the Administrator, Mr. Carlos Villarreal, and his staff. We would be glad to hear your statement at this time. INTRODUCTION OF NEW STAFF MEMBER Mr. VILLARREAL. Mr. Chairman and members of the committee, first of all I would like to introduce the newest member of our staff, Dr. Robert A. Hemmes, who is our new Assistant Administrator for Research, Development, and Demonstration. I have here, Mr. Chairman, a biographical sketch of Dr. Hemmes. Mr. McFALL. We will insert it in the record at this point. (The biographical sketch follows:) BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ON ROBERT A. HEMMES Appointed to the position of Assistant Administrator for Research in the Urban Mass Transportation Administration on February 19, 1970. Experience: 1960 to 1969, Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., graduate studies, assistant professor and associate professor of industrial engineering; 1958 to 1959, George Washington University, Washington, D.C., assistant professor of civil engineering; 1954 to 1957, Department of the Navy, Bureau of Aeronautics, project engineer; 1948 to 1953, U.S. Navy, active duty (except for a period of 9 months as a student at California Institute of Technology. Education: U.S. Naval Academy, 1958, bachelor of science; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1956, master of science; Stanford University, 1969, Ph. D. |
