DAVID BROWN MRS. HELEN CHAMBERS JOHN CRAIG, JR. LEIGHTON C. DUNLAP MAJOR HAIRSTON, JR.• SENATOR HERMAN HOLLOWAY MRS. ARVA JACKSON MRS. YVONNE JENSEN MRS. FAYE JONES REP, HERBERT LESHER HARRY TRUITT Enclosed is the Annual Report of the Delaware Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. for the 1969 operation. If you wish additional information about this report or to make other inquiries concerning Delaware OIC, please feel free to contact us. Rev. Lloyd S. Casson ment. They are now productive citizens, skilled wage earners, and able to contribute to the reshaping of our society for the benefit of all, instead of being recipients of relief checks and welfare handouts. Plans are now being made to extend our services to other parts of the City and State. We, at Delaware OIC, see the problem of unemployment as a total community problem, affecting not only those who are victims of it, but everyone else as well. Therefore, we call upon the entire state community...government, business and industry, religious, "grass-roots" ... everybody...to spread the word about DOIC; to volunteer your services to it; and to support us finan cially. Delaware OIC is a tremendous example of how well the people of Delaware can work together for the good of all of us. Building bridges, as the Rev. Leon H. Sullivan observes, is the business of Opportunities Industrialization Centers all over America and it is no less true of the Delaware OIC, which, while a unique and independent organization, devotes every working hour to helping Delawareans cross over from the slough and frustration of joblessness to the stability and self-esteem of gainful employment. This is a report of the Delaware OIC's efforts in such bridgebuilding during 1969. It is a report in which everyone associated with Delaware OIC, from the newest student to the chairman of the board of directors, takes considerable pride, for the past year has been one of both transition and significant accomplishment. |
