LETTERPRESS PRINTING INK.

MILLER and ARTHUR respectfully recom

mend their LETTERPRESS INK to the Trade. The manufacture of this Ink is conducted by them on sound Chemical Principles, under the personal supervision of an eminent Chemist, a Fellow of the Royal Society, who, for many years, has given his attention and research to the perfecting of Letterpress Ink.

This Ink possesses the property of keeping the Roller in good working order, so as never to loose the grip. It distributes freely-works sharp and clean-washes easily off the types-dries readily on paper, and sets off but little. Colour deep and permanent, never changing to brown.

It does not skin in the barrel or dry on the roller, and is entirely divested of that unpleasant effluvium so injurious to the health of the workmen. Scottish Chemical Works, Leith, 1851.

J. BARRETT AND CO. As Agents for England, having now had several months' experience in the sale of the above Inks, have every confidence in further introducing them to the notice of the Trade, as fully bearing out, in every respect, the recommendation of the manufacturers as given above.

Lists of prices and terms will be forwarded, on application to

Publishers' Circular Office, October 15, 1851.

The British Catalogue.-The Publisher greatly regrets the delay in the issue of this work his anxiety to give, as far as he can, the correct Dates of each Publication, is the main cause of delay; but this feature will, he trusts, be found of essential service, not only to the trade but to purchasers of books in general. The two first Parts, comprising A to L, are now ready for delivery to those who desire to avail themselves of this mode of publication, and the remainder of the work is steadily progressing.

THE BOOKSELLERS SHEET ALMANACK for 1852 will comprise, in addition to the Annual Calendar and Commercial Information, all necessary intelligence relative to the Office-bearers and Rules of the Booksellers' Provident Institution and Retreat, and a New Lithographic View of the Building, printed in Colours.

THE Scene of THACKERAY'S NEW NOVEL is laid in England early in the 18th Century, and the stage will be crossed by many of the illustrious of the time, such as Bolingbroke, Swift, and Pope. Dick Steele will also play a prominent part.

THE First Volume of BIBLIOTHECA CLASSICA, consisting of CICERO'S ORATIONS AGAINST VERRES, edited by GEORGE LONG, has just been issued.

THE NEW YORK HALF-ANNUAL SALE, conducted by Messrs. BANGS BROTHER and Co. has been unusually large, and the biddings very spirited. The largest day's sale was that comprising the Invoices of Messrs. Harper and Brothers, and the impression is that the whole sale will reach the large sum of Half a Million of Dollars.-Literary World.

THE American Papers announce as nearly ready for issue a NEW THEOLOGICAL WORK by JONATHAN EDWARDS. Great interest is naturally manifested in the religious world concerning a production from this illustrious theologian.-THE 16th, 17th, and 18th Volumes of the complete Works of FREDERICK THE GREAT have just been published at Berlin.-A TRANSLATION of the WORKS OF SHAKSPEARE is now in course of publication in Sweden: of this twelve volumes have appeared, the First Edition of which, consisting of 2000 copies, has been sold off, and a Second Edition is in preparation.
