Why boaftest thou thyself in Mischief, O mighty Man? The Goodness of God endureth continually.

• The Wicked boasteth of his Heart's Desire: Through the Pride of his Countenance he will not seek after God. He hath said in his Heart, I shall not be moved; I shall never be in Adverfity. But the Lord shall cut off all flattering Lips, and the Tongue that speaketh proud Things.

• God will punish the stout Heart of the Conqueror, and the Glory of his high Looks; who faith, I have removed the Bounds of the People, and have put down the Inhabitants like a valiant Man. By the Strength of my Hand I have done it; and by my Wisdom, for I am prudent. Shall the Ax boast itself against him that hewąth therewith? Or shall the Saw magnify itfelf against him that shaketh it? Or ihall the Staff lift up itself, as if it were no Wood? Therefore shall the Lord of Hosts lop the Bough with Terror ; and the high Ones of Stature shall be hewn down, and the Haughty shall be humbled.

e God resisteth the Proud, but giveth Grace unto the Humble ; fubmit yourselves therefore to God: Humble yourselves in the Sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

* A proud Look doth the Lord hate; and every one that is proud in Heart is an Abomination to the Lord.

# Wo unto them that are wife in their own Eyes, and prudent in their own Sight. For the Day of the Lord of Holts fhall be upon every one that is proud and lifted up, and he shall be brought low : The lofty Looks of Man fhall be humbled ; and the Haughtinefs of Men shall be bowed down; and the Lord alone thall be exalted in that Day.

MEEKNESS. Y w Cease from Anger, and forsake Wrath : Fret not thyself in any wife to do Evil.

* Be angry, and sin not : Let not the Sun go down upon your Wrath ; neither give place to the Devil.

y Put away from thee a froward Mouth, and perverse Lips put far from thee.

2. Let not thy Spirit be provoked, so as to speak unadvisedly with thy Lips.

· Be not hasty in thy Spirit to be angry; for Anger resteth in the Bosom of Fools.

Let every Man be swift to hear, now to speak, flow to Wrath; for the Wrath of Man worketh not the Righteousness of God.

· Let your Moderation be known unto all Men: The Lord is at hand.

"Let the holy Women, who trust 'in God, adorn themselves with that which is not corrup, tible, even the Ornament of a meek and, quiet Spirit, which is in the Sight of God of great Price.

• He that is soon angry, dealeth foolishly; and he that is hafty of Spirit, exalteth Folly ; but he that is flow to Wrath, is of great Understanding,

A Fool's Wrath is presently known, but a prudent Man covereth Shame,

& Seeft thou a Man that is hasty in his Words? There is more Hope of a Fool than of him.

• He that hath a froward Heart, findeth no Good; and he that hath a perverse Tongue, falleth into Mischief.

9 A Man of great Wrath shall suffer Punishment ; for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do

it again.
