in Lowliness of Mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
a Honour all Men. If ye falute your Brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Publicans so?
b Ye younger , submit your selves unto the elder; yea, all of you, be subject one to another, and be cloathed with Humility.
c Rebuke not an Elder, but intreat him as a Father, and the younger Men as Brethren ; the elder Women as Mothers, the younger as Sisters.

PEACE and UNION.
a Be at Peace among your felves; and follow after the things which make for Peace: Shewing all Meekness unto all Men.
6 Study to be quiet, and to do your own Business ; and if it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all Men.
c Seek the Peace of the City, and the Welfare of the People whereunto ye belong ; for in the Peace thereof ye shall have Peace.
d One is your Master, even Christ, and all ye are Brethren: therefore have Peace one with another.
e Be ye all of one Mind; endeavouring to keep the Unity of the Spirit in the Bond of Peace. For there is one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all; and ye are one Body in Christ, and every one Members one of another. There is neither Jew, nor Greek; there is neither bond, nor free; there is neither Male, nor Female ; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
f If there be, therefore, any Consolation in Christ, if any Comfort of Love, if any Fellowship of the Spirit, if any Bowels and Mercies, be

a I beseech you, Brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no Divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same Mind, and in the same Judgment.
b T'he God of Patience and Consolation grant you to be like-minded one towards another according to Christ Jesus ; that ye may with one Mind and one Mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
c Let us walk by the fame Rule, let us mind the same thing.
d Let us stand fast in one Spirit, with one Mind, striving together for the Faith of the Gospel.
e Let all Bitterness, and Wrath, and Anger, and Clamour, and evil Speaking be put away from you, with all Malice.
f Wrath is cruel, and Anger is outragious , but who is able to stand before Envy.
& Let us not be desirous of Vain-glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
h Foolish and unlearned Questions avoid , knowing that they do gender Strifes. And the Servant of the Lord must not frive, but be gentle unto all Men.
i Strive not with a Man without Cause, if he have done thee no harm.
a Go not forth hastily to strive, left thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy Neighbour hath put thee to Shame.
b Debate thy Cause with thy Neighbour himself, and discover not a Secret to another; left he that heareth it put thee to Shame, and thine Infamy turn not away:
© The beginning of Strife is, as when one letteth out Water; therefore leave off Contention, before it be meddled with.
d As Coals are to burning Coals, and Wood to Fire, so is a contentious Man to kindle Strife.
e Thou fhalt not go up and down as Talebearer among thy People.
f Where no Wood is, there the Fire goeth out, so where there is no Tale-bearer, the Strife ceaseth. For a Tale-bearer revealeth Secrets, and a Whisperer separateth Friends; but he that is of a faithful Spirit, concealeth the matter.
8 Only by Pride cometh Contention ; but with the well advised is Wisdom.
h Cast out the Scorner, and Contention shall go out; yea, Strife and Reproach shall cease. For scornful Men bring a City into a Snare; but wise Men turn away Wrath.
i From whence come Wars and Fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your Lusts that war in your Members.?
k He loveth Transgression that loveth Strife.
| It is an Honour for a Man to cease from Strife ; but every Fool will be meddling.

a The Lot causeth Contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
