And God met Balaam: and he faid unto him, I have prepared feven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

5 And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and faid, Return unto Balak, and thus thou fhalt speak.

6 And he returned unto him, and lo, he stood by his burnt-facrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.

7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the eaft, faying, Come, curfe me Jacob, and come, defy Ifrael.

8 How fhall I curfe, whom God hath not curfed? or how fhall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?

12 And he answered and faid, Must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord hath put in my mouth?

13 And Balak faid unto ́ him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayeft fee them: thou fhalt see but the utmoft part of them, and fhalt not fee them all and curfe me them from thence.

14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pifgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 And he faid unto Balak, Stand here by thy burntoffering, while I meet the LORD yonder.

16 And the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and faid, Go again unto Balak, and fay

9 For from the top of the rocks I fee him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people fhall dwell alone, and fhall not be reckoned thus. among the nations.

10 Who can count the duft of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Ifrael? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my laft end be like his!

II And Balak faid unto Balaam, What haft thou

17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak faid unto him, What hath the Lord spoken?

18 ¶ And he took up his parable, and faid, Rife up, Balak, and hear; hearken

19 God is not a man, that he fhould lie; neither the fon of man, that he fhould repent hath he faid, and fhall he not do it? or hath he fpoken, and fhall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to blefs; and he hath bleffed and I cannot reverse it.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he feen perverfenefs in Ifrael: the Lord his God is with him, and the fhout of a king is among them.

22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the ftrength of an unicorn.

23 Surely there is no inchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Ifrael: according to this time it fhall be faid of Jacob and of Ifrael, What hath God wrought?

24 Behold, the people fhall rife up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion he fhall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the flain.

25 And Balak faid unto Balaam, Neither curfe them at all, nor bless them at all.

26 But Balaam anfwered and faid unto Balak, Told

27 And Balak faid unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place: peradventure it will please God, that thou mayeft curfe me them from thence.

28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jefhi

mon.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here feven bullocks, and feven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had faid, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

CHAP. XXIV.

ND when Balaam faw that it pleafed the, Lord to blefs Ifrael, he went not as at other times, to feek for inchantments, but he fet his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Balaam lift up his eyes, and he faw Ifrael abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable, and faid, Balaam the fon of Beor hath faid, and

ΣΙ Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour, but lo, the Lord.

5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy ta-hath kept thee back from bernacles, O Ifrael!

6 As the vallies are they fpread forth, as gardens by the river's fide, as the trees of lign-aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedartrees befide the waters.

7 He fhall pour the water out of his buckets, and his feed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom fhall be exalted.

8 God brought him forth out of Egypt, he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and fhall break their bones, and pierce them through with ar

rows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who fhall ftir him up? Bleffed is he that bleffeth thee, and curfed is he that curfeth thee.

10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together:

12 And Balaam faid unto Balak, Spake I not alfo to thy meffengers which thou fenteft unto me, faying,

13 If Balak would give me his houfe full of filver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord faith, that will I speak ?

14 And now, behold, I go unto my people; come therefore, and I will advertife thee what this people fhall do to thy people in the latter days.

15 And he took up his parable, and faid, Balaam the fon of Beor hath faid, and the man whofe eyes are open, hath faid:

16 He hath faid, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the Moft High, which faw the vifion of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but

17 I fhall fee him, but not now; I fhall behold him, but not righ: there fhall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre fhall rife out of Ifrael, and fhall fmite the corners of Moab, and deftroy all the children of Sheth.

18 And Edom fhall be a poffeffion, Seir alfo fhall be a poffeffion for his enemies, and Ifrael fhall do valiantly.

19 Out of Jacob fhall come he that fhall have dominion, and shall deftroy him that remaineth of the city.

21 And he looked on the Kenites; and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling-place, and thou putteft thy neft in a rock.

22 Nevertheless, the Kenite fhall be wafted until Asfhur fhall carry thee away captive.

23 And he took up his parable, and faid, Alas, who fhall live when God doeth this!

24 And fhips shall come from the coaft of Chittim, and fhall afflict Asfhur, and fhall afflict Eber, and he also

CHAP. XVI.

Bferve the month of

O Abib, and keep the

pass-over unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

2 Thou fhalt therefore facrifice the pafs-over unto the Lord thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the Lord fhall

choose to place his name there.

3 Thou fhalt eat no leavened bread with it: feven days fhalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou cameft forth out of the land of Egypt in hafte: that thou mayeft remember the day when thou cameft forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.

4 And there fhall be no leavened bread feen with thee

in all thy coafts feven days: neither fhall there any thing of the flesh which thou facrificedst the first day at even remain all night until the morning.

5 Thou mayeft not facrifice the pass-over within any of thy gates which the Lord thy God giveth thee:

6 But at the place which the Lord thy God fhall choofe to place his name in, there thou shalt facrifice the pafsover at even, at the going down of the fun, at the feafon that thou camest forth

out of Egypt.

thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God according as the Lord thy God hath bleffed thee.

II And thou fhalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy fon, and thy daughter, and thy man-fervant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the ftranger, and the fatherlefs, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

12 And thou shalt remember that thou waft a bond7 And thou fhalt roaft, man in Egypt: and thou and eat it in the place which | fhalt obferve and do thefe the Lord thy God fhall ftatutes. choofe and thou fhalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

8 Six days thou fhalt eat unleavened bread and on the feventh day shall be a solemn affembly to the Lord thy God; thou fhalt do no work therein.

9 Seven weeks fhalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the feven weeks from fuch time as thou beginneft to put the fickle to

the corn.

13 Thou fhalt obferve the feaft of tabernacles seven days, after that thou haft gathered in thy corn and thy wine.

14 And thou shalt rejoice in thy feaft, thou, and thy fon, and thy daughter, and thy man-fervant, and thy maid-fervant, and the Levite, the ftranger, and the fatherlefs, and the widow, that are within thy gates.

15 Seven days fhalt thou keep a folemn feast unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord fhall choofe: becaufe the Lord thy God
