LEGISLATION RELATING TO THE COURT OF CLAIMS PRIVATE LAW 86-248 86TH CONGRESS, H.R. 8801 AN ACT For the relief of the Maco Warehouse Company. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the Maco Warehouse Company, Stockton, California, the sum of $1,745.86. The payment of such sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of such company against the United States for the cost of certain alterations and repairs made by such company to certain premises leased from the United States under contract numbered DA(s)04-203-eng211, dated June 23, 1950, for which costs such company has not been reimbursed. Such sum represents the difference between the total amount determined by the United States Court of Claims to be equitably due such company from the United States and the amount of a certain judgment ordered by such court to be entered in favor of the United States against such company. Such determination and judgment, and other findings of fact with respect to this matter, are contained in the congressional reference case styled Maco Warehouse Company California against The United States (No. Cong. 2-56), decided January 14, 1959. Such judgment in favor of the United States shall be held and considered to be satisfied upon acceptance by such company of the sum to be paid under this section. No part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved April 4, 1960. Cl. 71) MAY 16, 1960 The Judicial Conference of the United States at a meeting on March 11, 1960, unanimously approved the following resolution: Resolved, that the Judicial Conference of the United States approve a request by the United States Court of Claims that its opinions be published hereafter in the Federal Reporter, 2d Series. Pursuant to this resolution, the cases of the Court of Claims will appear in the Federal Reporter, beginning with Volume 276, 2d. Publication of the Court of Claims cases in the Federal Supplement will be discontinued with Volume 181. XIX |
