REQUIREMENT: 64,600 SF. ADEQUATE: 0 SF. PROJECT: Provides vehicle maintenance facilities. REQUIREMENT: Adequate facilities for performance of second echelon maintenance and repair to tactical vehicles and equipment. CURRENT SITUATION: Maintenance is performed in a complex consisting of semi-permanent repair sheds and miscellaneous makeshift sheds and quonset huts. A large portion of repair and maintenance is accomplished outdoors where the mechanics and equipment are exposed to inclement weather. During hot and dry weather, experienced a major portion of the year, maintenance operations are exposed and complicated by dirt and dust. Present facilities lack security for safeguarding maintenance tools and equipment. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Continue to use facilities which complicate the maintenance effort, and which are deterrent to combat readiness. ADDITIONAL: An economic analysis has not been prepared as there is no alternative to satisfy the deficiency.

ADEQUATE: 11,142 PN. SUBSTANDARD: 1,787 PN. PROJECT: Provides adequate billeting for unaccompanied enlisted personnel.

REQUIREMENT: Adequate housing for 513 enlisted personnel in grades El-E9. There is a deficiency of 5,864 adequate billeting spaces at this base. CURRENT SITUATION: Unaccompanied enlisted Marines are billeted in inadequate, open-bay dormitories, with communal heads and showers. these structures have surpassed their life expectancy. Upgrading is economically unfeasible.

IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Continued occupancy of inadequate housing, which fails to meet minimum living conditions necessary to recruit and retain Marines in an all-volunteer environment.

ADDITIONAL: An economic analysis indicates new construction is less costly than modernization on a life-cycle basis.
