DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION Construction of a permanent, fire resistant training building with work bays, classrooms, training aid rooms, simulator rooms, office, instructor and break areas complete with required utilities services, fire protection, communications, hardstand, washrack, laser test range, paving, walks, curb and gutter, fencing and site improvements. Heating from self-contained heating plant. Not sited in a flood plain. Air Conditioning 84 Tons. 11. REQUIREMENT: 1,181,880 SF Adequate: 726,637 SF Substandard: 48,281 SF PROJECT: Construction of an M-1 tank maintenance training facility at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). REQUIREMENT: This project is required to provide the S Army Ordnance Center and School with a facility for training personnel in the maintenance and repair of automotive and weapons systems of the M-1 Main Rattle Tank. This proiect will provide adequate classrooms and training facilities needed for known and projected training requirements. Reneficial occupancy of this facility is required by October 1984. This facility will accommodate a student body of 500 with an instructional and support staff of 100. CURRENT SITUATION: There are no facilities at this or other installations that could be made available to satisfy the requirement for this project. The M-1 tank system is new: and, as such, no facilities designed for this purpose exist. All existing facilities are being used to their maximum capacity for training on the Army's current tank equipment inventory. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Full resident M-1 tank training facilities will not be available with adverse impact on the overall Army combat effectiveness. DD1 DEC A.
