REQUIREMENT: 64 EA Adequate: 52 EA Substandard: 8 EA PROJECT: Construction of stage field lanes, academic classrooms and a storage building at Fort Rucker. REQUIREMENT: This project is required to provide facilities in support of pilot training courses of instruction. Effective June 1984, pilot training at the installation is to be expanded to include the Aviator Qualification and Instructor Pilot Courses for the AH-64 aircraft. These courses of instruction will train 42 qualified AH-64 aviators during a 16week training cycle. Training will be accomplished by 30 flight instructors using 32 AH-64s to be assigned to Fort Rucker. The training will include stagefield work, tactical flying and classroom instruction. CURRENT SITUATION: There are 60 stagefield lanes at Fort Rucker that are now fully utilized, and the complexity of training that results from assumption of the AH-64 mission cannot be effectively handled by further saturation of existing lanes.
