DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION Construction of two permanent, Fire resistant tactical equipment shops with storage buildings, POL storage sheds, fuel dispensing station, grease racks, sentry station, hardstand, utility pads and supporting facilities. Reating from central heating plant. Not sited in a flood plain.

REQUIREMENT: 578,272 SF Adequate: 401,612 SF Substandard: 317,378 SF PROJECT: Construct two tactical equipment shops.

REQUIREMENT: This project is needed to maintain a total of 282 tactical support vehicles for the 214th and 268th Attack Helicopter Rns of the Combat Brigade Air Attack (CRAA) activated in FY 81.

CURRENT SITUATION: Fxisting adequate vehicle maintenance facilities are not available to accommodate the maintenance requirement of the battalions upon their activation. Existing maintenance facilities are crowded to the The point they are not able to provide minimally acceptable maintenance. only facilities available are at North Fort Lewis, six miles away. are old, obsolete, temporary motor pools and are not suitable for proper vehicle maintenance.

REQUIREMENT: This project is needed to provide maintenance shops for 58 tactical vehicles of the headquarters company of Combat Brigade Air Attack (CBAA).

CURRENT SITUATION:

No existing adequate motor pool facilities are

available to accommodate the requirement to maintain these company tactical vehicles.

IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: There are not adequate maintenance facilities available. Further congesting existing shops or field condition maintenance are alternatives that would adversely affect mission accomplishment.
