10 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSER SONSTRUCTION basement to adjoin D and C wing of Bldg 36. The proposed structure shall match the existing concrete frame building designed for Seismic Zone 2 construction. The entire structure will be constructed to meet Special Security Activity Area (SAA) and TEMPEST requirements. The floor level and floor loading of the new structure shall match that of Section D. Included in the proposed construction are: electromagnetic shielding of walls, roof and floor; 4160 volt wiring, transformer substation; HVAC equipment with controls compatible with existing system tied into existing EMCS; 48,300 SF of raised flooring with smoke detectors; suspended ceilings throughout with sprinkler systems and recessed fluorescent lighting; Halon 1301 systems in specified equipment areas; vinyl asbestos flooring; vaults; chilled water, steam and condensate piping; compressed air system; water and plumbing lines; centralized fire alarm control system throughout Bldg 36, elevators, and an incinerator

[blocks in formation]

Two floors (60,000 SF) of the building addition will accommodate production equipment to be procured in support of the conventional Cruise Missile program. One floor (30,000 SF) will accommodate additional production equipment in support of other expanded mission requirements. Another floor (30,000 SF) will house an augmented UNIVAC 1100 computer system. The building will be completely shielded to accommodate requirements for Special Security Activity Area (SAA) requirements. The basement will house mechanical and electrical utility support systems, maintenance support shops, and a pyrolytic incinerator.

The mission of the Aerospace Center is to provide aerospace mapping, charting, and geodetic products, data, and services to the Armed Forces of the United States and other Department of Defense and Federal Agencies. Major functions include the responsibility to:

a. Produce, distribute, and maintain aeronautical, extraterrestrial, and astronautical charts, air target materials, and special products in support of aerospace and missile weapon systems.

b. Produce and maintain digital and point positioning data bases in support of aerospace weapons delivery systems.

c. Produce cultural and terrain information for use in radar simulators, terminal guidance, enroute navigation, and SAC penetration routes.

d.

Operate and maintain the Department of Defense centralized libraries for aeronautical charts, free world air facilities and flight information, point positioning data bases, gravity data and installation/positional data.

e. Produce and maintain flight information publications, flight control aids and evaluated information on air facilities to satisfy the daily operational requirements of the Armed Forces.

f. Provide geodetic and geophyical studies and data in support of various weapon systems.
