11. REQUIREMENT: 1,429,200 SF. ADEQUATE: 558,400 SF. SUBSTANDARD: 561,800 SF. PROJECT: Provides an applied instruction building.

REQUREMENT: Adequate facilities for teaching the structural courses of the aviation mechanic enlisted rating. The student load is 1,400 annually, with 270 on-board at any one time.

CURRENT SITUTATION: Training is conducted in 16 buildings, most of which are substandard, temporary, World War II buildings located as much as a mile apart. They are hard to heat and lack adequate air conditioning and lighting. All were built for other purposes and do not conform to modern classroom standards.

IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Continued inefficient training operations because of inadequate facilities.

ADDITIONAL: An economic analysis has not been prepared as there is no alternative to satisfy the deficiency and adequately meet the training requirement.
