These rules were adopted at the first meeting of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, held in Boston on the third Tuesday of June, Anno Domini eighteen hundred and ninetyone, Mr. Justice Gray, Judge Colt and Judge Nelson being present. [Note that those words which are enclosed in brackets and printed in italic letters have been repealed and supplied by the amended rules.] RULES OF THE UNITED STATES CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIRST CIRCUIT. 1. NAME. The court adopts "United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit" as the title of the court. 2. SEAL. on The seal shall contain the words "United States " the upper part of the outer edge; and the words "Circuit Court of Appeals" on the lower part of the outer edge, running from left to right; and the words "First Circuit " in two lines, in the centre, with a dash beneath; as follows: [One term of this court shall be held annually at the city of Boston on the first Tuesday of October, and shall be adjourned to such times and places as the court may from time to time designate.] |
