Who is the King of Glory, who?
HYMN XXIV. FOR EASTER SUNDAY.
JESUS Christ is ris'n to day,---Hallelujah. Our triumphant holy-day;
Who so lately on the cross,
Suffer'd to redeem our loss.
Hymns of praises let us sing,---Hallelujah. Unto Christ, our heav'nly King;
Who endur'd both cross and grave,
Sinners to redeem and save.
But the pain which he endur'd,--Hallelujah.
Our salvation has procur'd;
Now he reigns eternal King,
Where the Angels ever sing.---Hallelujah.
HYMN XXV. FOR THANKSGIVING.
SALVATION doth to God belong,
power and grace shall be our song, His hand hath dealt a secret blow, And terror strikes the haughty foe.
Our temples guarded from the flame,
Still be it our supreme delight,
HYMN XXVI. FOR A PUBLIC FAST.
GREAT God of heav'n and nature rise,
See Britain bow before thy face,
Through all her coasts and seek thy grace.
No arm of flesh we make our trust;
Nor Sword, nor Horse, nor Ships we boast:
Our guilt might draw thy vengeance down
Forgive the follies of our times,
END OF THE SECOND PART.
Taken out of the 2d Chapter of Luke. LORD, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: according to thy word.
For mine eyes have seen: thy salvation. Which thou hast prepared: before the face of all people;
To be a light to lighten the Gentiles: and to be the glory of thy people Israel. Glory be to the Father, &c.
As it was in the beginning, &c.
Taken out of the 1st Chapter of Isaiah.
HEAR, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the Lord hath spoken, I have nourished. and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil doers, children that are corrupters, they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the holy one of Israel unto anger.
Wash you, make you clean, put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil.
Learn to do well, seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, let us reason together saith the Lord: though your sins he as scarlet, they shall be as wool, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as white as Hallelujah.
