SECOND PART 18TH PSALM. THE Lord descended from above, And bow'd the heavens high; On Cherubs and on Cherubims And on the wings of mighty winds To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, As in beginning, was, is now, And shall be evermore. PSALM XIX: THE spacious firmament on high, With all the blue etherial sky, And spangled heav'ns, a shining frame, Th' unwearied sun from day to day, The work of an Almighty hand. Soon as the evening shades prevail, Whilst all the stars which round her burn, And all the planets in their turn, Confirm the tidings as they roll, And spread the truth from pole to pole. What tho' in solemn silence, all Move round this dark terrestrial ball, In reason's ear they all rejoice, PSALM XXI. THE King, O Lord, with songs of praise, Shall in thy strength rejoice, With thy salvation crown'd, shall raise To heav'n his cheerful voice. Thy sure defence thro' nations round, Because the King on God alone His mercy still supports his throne, PSALM XXII. My God, my God, why leav'st thou me O! why so far from me remov'd, All day, but all the day unheard, With cries implore relief all night, But cry all night in vain. Withdraw not then so far from me, O send me help! thy help! on which I only can rely.
