This

THE importance which is attached to perfumery, by reason of its very large consumption in the United States-a consumption which is constantly increasing has rendered necessary some instruction relative to its mode of manufacture. treatise, therefore, is tendered for that object. It is presented both as a guide-book for the manufacturer, and as a protection to the purchaser against all improper and deleterious compositions.

The knowledge which it conveys is reliable, and completed to the present time. It extends to every branch and subdivision of the art. It comprises authoritative recipes for all the fashionable preparations now imported from the Parisian and Italian markets, and much other useful information; it is, in fact, a complete manual of instruction in the matters of which it treats.
