GENERAL STATEMENT

Chairman HAYDEN. The committee will be in order.

We have for consideration today two appropriation items under the Department of Army relating to the Ryukyu Islands. The first one is administration, and the second one is a new one, construction of power systems. The first witness this morning is Gen. C. K. Gailey, Chief, Office of the Chief of Civil Affairs and Military Government, Department of the Army. You may proceed, General.
