COSMOPOLITAN SHIPPING CO.,

42 Broadway, New York, N. Y.
(Attention of Mr. I. H. Payne, vice president.)

GENTLEMEN: With reference to prospective sale of the American-France Line as operated by your company for a number of years, it may be of interest for you to know of the high esteem in which your company is held among the shipping men with whom the undersigned comes in contact, and for that reason we believe it would be to the best interest of the trade and all concerned with shipping to French Atlantic ports, that the service maintained so highly during these years remain with the Cosmopolitan Shipping Co. whom we know will develop the service to a higher degree of efficiency.

When it comes to booking freight, our company has always made it a practice of giving first preference to the Cosmopolitan Shipping Co. for the two very good reasons one of which is the fact that we can always get service and cooperation, and the other is because the ships are operated under the American flag.

We therefore feel that the patronage which you have built up and the trade you have developed should remain vested with your company for the good of the service, and toward that end we wish you the best of luck and hope that your company will be given the consideration it deserves by the United States: Shipping Board at time of sale.

Yours very truly,

Cab: JE.
