All users of this abstract service are urged to forward reports to be considered for announcement in STAR. This will aid NASA in its efforts to provide the fullest possible coverage of all scientific and technical publications that might support aeronautics and space research and development. If you have prepared relevant reports (other than those that you will transmit to NASA, DOD, or ERDA through the usual contract or grant reporting channels), please send them to NASA, Scientific and Technical Information Office/KSI, Washington, DC. 20546, for consideration.

Reprints of journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers are also welcome. These will be considered for announcement in STAR's companion joumal, International Aerospace Abstracts.

You may specify a particular source to be included in a report announcement if you wish; otherwise the report will be placed on public sale at the National Technical Information Service. Copyrighted publications will be announced but not distributed or sold.

ON-GOING RESEARCH PROJECTS

By arrangement between NASA and the Smithsonian Science Information Exchange (SSIE). a separate section of information on aerospace-related On-Going Research Projects is inserted into each issue of STAR. The insert presents titles of active NASA grants and university contracts, summary portions of recently updated NASA Research and Technology Operating Plans (RTOPs). and notices of non-NASA research projects that were funded in the most recent or current fiscal year. The latter are selected by SSIE. The project announcements in the insert are arranged by STAR divisions but are otherwise entirely separate from STAR. They are not indexed nor machine-searchable by NASA. Current and retrospective searches are available from SSIE. 1730 M Street. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036.

Subject scope of STAR, IAA, and On-Going Research Projects includes all aspects of aeronautics and space research and development, supporting basic and applied research, and applications. Aerospace aspects of earth resources, energy development, conservation. oceanography, environmental protection, urban transportation, and other topics of high national priority are also covered.

Other NASA publications and information services are described in a booklet. The NASA Scientific and Technical Information System ... and How to Use It, available without charge from the NASA Scientific and Technical Information Facility, P.O. Box 8757. B.W.I. Airport. Maryland 21240.
