I might learn thy statutes, O Lord: For before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I have kept thy word.

'Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? Surely it is meet to be 'said unto God, I have borne chastisement; I will not offend any more. I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him.

2 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the -way: Nevertheless take heed, regard not iniquity; nor choose this rather than affliction.

3 Wo unto him that striveth with his Maker. Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth': Shall the clay say unto him that fashioned it, What makest thou?

HONOUR AND WORSHIP,

IN GENERAL.

* Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: Worship him in the beauty of holiness.

5

A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? And if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of Hosts.

6

He that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father which sent him.

7

Let us serve God with reverence and godly fear.

O come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honour, and power: For thou hast created all things.

? Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase; so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

3 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things. But the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

4

He desireth not sacrifice; he delighteth not in burnt-offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. He desireth truth in the inward parts.

5

We are the true circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

6

* Offer therefore the sacrifices of righteousness with a perfect heart: For cursed is the deceiver which voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing.

7 If ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if ye offer the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Offer it now unto thy governor, will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of Hosts.

* Wash ye, make you clean, put away the evil of your doing: Cease to do evil, learn to do well; or

else, when ye come to appear before the Lord, he will say, Who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

1 Thou shalt not profane the name of thy God.

Let none blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called.

3

Whosoever curseth his God, shall bear his sin; and he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord shall be put to death.

4

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

5

Let not the name of God, nor his word, nor his doctrine, be blasphemed.

6

Despise not the Church of God; neither profane his holy things, nor his ordinances.

'Them that honour me, (saith the Lord) I will honour; and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

8

If he that despised Moses' law died without mercy; of how much sorer punishment shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and done despite unto the Spirit of Grace?

9

Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

10 Make no mention of the names of other gods; neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

1 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to any graven image: Neither shalt thou respect that which thy fingers have made; nor stretch out thy hands to a strange god. But ye shall look every man to his Maker; and your eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

2 Ye shall destroy all the pictures of other gods, and all their molten images.

I am the Lord, saith God, that is my name; my glory will I not give unto another, neither my praise to graven images.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING.

"Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Let them give glory unto the Lord from the end of the earth, and declare his praise in the islands.

* Let every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea; and all that are in them, say, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and thanksgiving, and wisdom, and power, and might, be unto our God, and unto the Lamb that was slain for ever and ever.

* Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great; and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. Make known his deeds among the people ; talk you of all his wondrous works; glory ye in his holy name. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done: his wonders, and the judgments, of his mouth : Shew forth from day to day his salvation.

201? I will praise thee, O Lord, with all my heart, I will show forth all thy marvellous works, I will extol thee, my God, O King; I will declare thy greatness. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy Majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness.

I will praise thy name, O Lord, for thy lovingkindness, and for thy truth. My tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. My praise shall be continually of thee.

* Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies.

0! that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

6

Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

. Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Let us show to the generations to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

8

* One generation shall praise his works to another; to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
