IT having been suggested to the Editor from many quarters, that a more easy and immediate reference to the families of the married daughters of Peers, than was afforded by the general Index of Matches in the First Volume, would be a very desirable addi. tion to the Work; he was induced to compile the following list, containing

1. The daughters of dukes, marquesses, or earls, who, having married either commoners, or the sons of peers of equal or inferior rank to that of their respective fathers, are distinguished by the title of right honourable lady prefixed to their own Christian

names.

2. The daughters of viscounts, or barons, married to knights, or baronets.

3. The daughters of viscounts, or barons, married to com

moners.

The daughters of marquesses and earls who have married the sons of peers of a superior rank, and are distinguished by the Christian names of their husbands, and the daughters of viscounts or barons who have married the sons of peers, are not included in this list; the reference to their husbands' families being, it is presumed, sufficiently easy.
