CODIFICATION: The Civil Service Rules promulgated in E.O. 9004, Dec. 30, 1941, effective July 1, 1941, 3 CFR, Cum. Supp,, as amended, and codified in various parts of this chapter, were superseded by E.O. 9830, Feb, 24, 1947, effective May 1, 1947, Title 3, supra. The chapter was then completely revised, and renumbered, including that portion which was derived from the revised Civil Service Rules contained in E.O. 9830.

12.310 Notice to employees. An em ployee in group A-1 or A-2 with competitive status affected by a reduction in force shall be given an individual notice in writing one year before the action becomes effective. His one-year notice period shall be composed of whenever possible, at least 30 days in an active duty status; a non-duty status with pay for the duration of his leave, if any; and the balance of the year in a furlough or leave without pay status. Exceptions to this rule are authorized wnen the employee requests separation in lieu of furlough, or when the agency as a whole is liquidating, in which case the notice period shall terminate as of the day the agency is finally liquidated.

b. The first sentence of the former first paragraph was amended to read, "Each employee, except those in subgroups A-1 or A-2 with competitive status, affected by reduction in force shall be given an individual notice in writing at least 30 days before the action becomes effective."

c. The phrase at the end of the former first paragraph was amended to read, "Notices to employees shall inform them of:".

$ 12.312 Special rules on liquidation.

CODIFICATION: $ 12.312 was amended in the following respects, effective Jan. 15, 1947, 12 F.R. 60:

1. The period at the end of the first paragraph was changed to a comma, and the following text was added: “and, Provided further, That notices to group A-1 and A-2 employees with competitive status shall be made to conform to the notice requirements of $12.310."

$ 27.2 Classification of the service.
