I left South Africa nearly twenty years ago, armed with my mothers copy of this book. I am now on my fourth copy as we use it so much it breaks. We are very sad at the loss of Faldela Williams, but eternally grateful for her books.

Salaam Faldela
I tried your Bolla recipe last night. I followed it to the T, FYI i am an excellent baker and nothing ever flops.. until now... :)
I just want to ask you...
Does your recipe really need 2 batches of 500ml flour(normal and self raising) with only 400ml milk?
It was so thick i had to add 3 times more milk and resulted in me throwing the batter away. I have since searched many Bolla recipes and none have so much flower in it
Please advise, fast starts tomorrow and would really like to make this for my in-laws
Regards
Candice
