Brink's conducts operations throughout the United States; has 87 branch offices, garages, and terminals in various cities; and operates about 900 armored vehicles. It is authorized to transport coin between all points as to which service is sought by GSA for the transportation of coin. It also holds a permit to transport bullion from New York, Denver, and San Francisco to Philadelphia, and from New York and San Francisco to Denver.

Armored of Trenton conducts operations principally between points east of the Mississippi; maintains a terminal at Trenton, N.J.; and operates 18 vehicles. 4 of which are specifically designed for the transportation of coin and bullion shipments. It holds authority to transport bullion from Denver and New York to Philadelphia and West Point, from New York to Denver, and from West Point to Denver and Philadelphia. In addition, it received a permit on January 19, 1960 (pursuant to Commission order in No. MC-FC-63257), which embraces the operating authorities of Armored of Idaho. These include Armored of Idaho's coin authority (set forth in appendix C) and its authority to transport bullion from San Francisco to Denver.

Protective conducts operations principally within Pennsylvania; maintains terminals at 4 points in that State; and operates 47 armored vehicles. It is authorized to transport bullion from New York to Philadelphia and Fort Knox and from Fort Knox to Philadelphia.

Armored of New Orleans conducts operations principally between points in Texas and Oklahoma, and points in the southeastern portion of the United States; maintains terminals at New Orleans and Birmingham, among others; and operates 35 armored vehicles. It is authorized to transport bullion from Fort Knox to Philadelphia.

Dunbar conducts operations principally between points in the Northeast; maintains terminal facilities at Hartford, Conn., Baltimore, and New York; and operates 14 vehicles in interstate commerce, all being either armored sedans or armored trucks of not more than 21⁄2 tons' capacity. It has bid consistently (but unsuccessfully) on each contract which has been opened for bids by the mint. It is authorized to transport bullion from New York and West Point to Philadelphia.

Armored of Denver conducts operations principally between points west of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers; maintains a terminal at Denver; and operates two armored vehicles of 2 tons' capacity and approximately 52 armored cars having less than 2 tons' capacity. It is authorized to transport bullion from San Francisco to Denver.

Exceptions to the order recommended by the examiner were filed by applicant, and United Van Lines, Inc., Bekins Van Lines Co., Lyon Van Lines, Inc., Allied Van Lines, Inc., Aero Mayflower Transit Company, Inc., and North American Van Lines, hereinafter called United, Bekins, Lyon, Allied, AM, and NA, replied thereto.

By application filed June 6, 1960, as amended, Republic Van and Storage Co., Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif., seeks a certificate of public convenience and necessity authorizing operation, in interstate or foreign commerce, as a common carrier by motor vehicle, over irregular routes, of household goods as defined by the Commission between points in Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia.
