12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit

life of the owners thereof. Wisdom crieth without; fhe uttereth her voice in the streets:

21 She crieth in the chief place of concourfe, in the openings of the gates in the city fhe uttereth her words, Jaying,

22 How long, ye fimple ones, will ye love fimplicity; and the fcorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 Turn ye at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my fpirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 924 ¶ Because I have called, and ye refufed; I have ftretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

choose the fear of the Lord. 30 They would none of my counfel, they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore fhall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the fimple fhall flay them, and the profperity of fools fhall destroy them.

33 But whofo hearkeneth unto me fhall dwell fafely, and fhall be quiet from fear of evil.

CHAP. II.

9¶ Honour the Lord with thy fubftance, and with the firft-fruits of all thine increase ;

10 So fhall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy preffes fhall burit out with new wine.

18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy, is every one that retaineth her.

19 The Lord by wif dom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he eftablished the heavens

20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew..

25 Be not afraid of fudden fear, neither of the defolation of the wicked, when it cometh."

26 For the Lord fhall be thy confidence, and fhall keep thy foot from being taken.

27 With-hold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come

29 Devife not evil against thy neighbour, feeing the dwelleth fecurely by thee. 30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

35 The wife fhall inherit glory; but shame shall be the promotion of fools..

CHAP. IV.

EAR, ye children, the inftruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forfake ye not my

law.

3¶ For I was my father's fon, tender and only beloved in the fight of my mother.

4 He taught me alfo, and faid unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my
