10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not but what they know naturally, as brute beafts, in thofe things they corrupt themselves.

II Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainfaying of Core.

12 These are spots in your feafts of charity, when they feaft with you, feeding themfelves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth; with'out fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were fpoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jefus Chrift;

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall fee him; and they also which pierced him and all kindreds of the earth fhall wail because of him. Even fo, Amen.

to come, the Almighty. 9 I John, who alfo am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jefus Chrift, was in the ifle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the teftimony of Jefus Chrift. Io I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day; and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

II Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou feeft, write in a book, and fend it unto the seven churches which are in Afia; unto Ephefus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

12 And I turned to fee the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I faw feven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the feven candlesticks, one like unto the Son of man clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as fnow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brafs, as if they burned

in a furnace; and his voice as the found of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged fword: and his countenance was as the fun shineth in his ftrength.

17 And when I faw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, faying unto me, Fear not, I am the firft and the laft :

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead: and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

19 Write the things which thou haft seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

20 The mystery of the feven ftars which thou fawest in my right hand, and the feven golden candlesticks. The feven ftars are the angels of the feven churches: and the feven candlesticks which thou faweft, are the feven churches.

CHAP. XVIII. ND after these things I faw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, faying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul fpirit, and à cage of every unclean and

hateful bird.

3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchant of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, faying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her fins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

5 For her fins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

6 Reward her even as fhe rewarded you, and double unto her double, according to her works in the cup which the hath filled, fill to her double.

7 How much the hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, fo much torment and forrow give her: for fhe faith in her heart, I fit a queen, and am no widow, and fhall fee no forrow.

plagues come in one day, death and mourning, and famine; and fhe shall be utterly burned with fire: for ftrong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication, and lived delicioufly with her, fhall bewail her, and lament for her, when they fhall fee the smoke of her burning,

10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, faying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgement come.

II And the merchants of the earth fhall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12 The merchandise of gold and filver, and precious ftones and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner veffels of ivory, and all manner veffels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beafts, and fheep, and 8 Therefore fhall her horfes, and chariots, and

flaves, and fouls of men.

14 And the fruits that thy foul lufted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou fhalt find them no more at all.

15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, fhall ftand afar off, for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16 And faying, Alas, alas, that great, city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and fcarlet, and decked with gold, and precious ftones, and pearls !

17 For in one hour fo great riches is come to nought. And every fhipmafter, and all the company in fhips, and failors, and as many as trade by fea, ftood afar off,

18 And cried, when they faw the fmoke of her burning, faying, What city is like unto this great city!

19 And they caft duft on their heads, and cried weeping and wailing, faying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had fhips in the fea, by reafon of her coftlinefs! for in one hour is fhe made defolate.

20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles

and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

21 And a mighty angel took up a ftone, like a great milftone, and caft it into the fea, faying, Thus with violence 'fhall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and fhall be found no more at all.

22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, fhall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman of whatsoever craft he be fhall be found any more in thee; and the found of a milftone fhall be heard no more at all in thee;

23 And the light of a candle fhall fhine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride fhall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy forceries were all nations deceived.

24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of faints, and of all that were flain upon the earth.
