AIR PORTS AND AIRLINES

The Central Airport at Camden is situated 1 3/4 miles east of the center of the city and 2 miles southeast of the Philadelphia-Camden Bridge. This is a Class II airport. There are three runways, each 150 feet in width and 2,500 feet in length. It is equipped with all modern appurtenances. SWITCHING

When orders are received by the carrier prior to arrival, shipments arriving at Camden via the Pennsylvania Railroad will be delivered to authorized delivery points on either the Pennsylvania Railroad or the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines without additional charge. Industrial and public delivery tracks at Camden have been assigned rate bases, according to their location. Movements of all freight in carloads to public delivery tracks and to individual sidings in the various rate bases are at the following rates per car:

Pennsylvania Railroad tariff, I.C.C. 2825.

The switching limits of the several carriers at Camden are shown below:

Pennsylvania Railroad.--From a point at the junction with the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines at Kaighn Avenue, thence north to Camden yards, inclusive, thence east to State Street, exclusive.

Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines.--Beginning at Campbell Soup Co. siding No. 20 on North Delaware Avenue, thence north to Cooper Point yards, inclusive, thence southeast and crossing the Pennsylvania Railroad main line and continuing to city line siding No. 71. Beginning at Center Tower

intersection with the Pennsylvania Railroad southwest to and including the shipyard siding No. 51, and from Kaighn Avenue junction with the Pennsylvania Railroad south, thence east to and including McCallister Coal Co. at Crescent Boulevard.

Reading Company.--The Reading Co. does not designate any limits at Camden.

At Gloucester the switching limits extend from Newton Creek Bridge on the north to Big Timber Creek Bridge on the south. To the west they include the tracks of the Lang Paper Co. There is no defined eastern boundary. The Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines makes a charge of 45 cents per ton, minimum charge $9.29 per car, for switching all carload freight from and to industrial, public or private sidings at Gloucester, when the movement is in connection with a road haul. Non-road-haul traffic is assessed 53 cents per ton, minimum charge $11.14 per car for the same service. Intraplant switching is at the rate of $3.71 per car for road haul traffic and $4.34 per car when not roadhauled. Tariff authority, Pennsylvania Railroad, I. C. C. 2825.

At Delair, N. J., a charge of $3.71 per car is assessed for intraplant switching on road-haul traffic and a charge of $4.34 applies on non-road-haul traffic. These charges are applicable on all loaded or empty cars, except as provided in connection with intrastate road-haul traffic, which takes a rate of $1.86 per car. Complete information is contained in Pennsylvania Railroad tariff, I. C. C. 2825.

The switching limits at Riverside include all public or private tracks on which shipments to or from the locality can be received or delivered. A rate of $9.29 per car is applicable on all road-haul traffic from industrial, private, or public sidings switched to industrial, private, or public sidings. On non-road-haul traffic a rate of 69 cents per ton of 2,000 pounds, minimum charge $13.06 per car, is applicable. The only exception to these charges is in connection with intrastate road-haul traffic, which is assessed $1.86 per

car.

CAR DEMURRAGE AND DIVERSION AND RECONSIGNMENT

General provisions governing car demurrage and diversion and reconsignment are given under Philadelphia.

TRANSIT PRIVILEGES

Rail carriers under numerous rules and charges permit cargo to be stopped in transit to be stored, fabricated, graded, etc., at the through rate plus the published transit charge. Limited space prevents a full exposition of the privileges authorized at Camden but the following provisions illustrate the scope of these services and their value to shippers.

Cooked, cured, or preserved foodstuffs originating at points on the Pennsylvania Railroad or its connections may be stopped at Camden and stored for not more than 12 months at a transit charge of 9 cents per 100 pounds. The Reading Co. and the Pennsylvania Railroad provide that wool and wool tags and mohair and mohair tags may be stopped at Camden to be inspected, sorted, weighed, dried, or stored. The charge on wool and wool tags is 42 cents per 100 pounds if reforwarded within 12 months, 5 cents per 100 pounds for a limit of 24 months, and 7 cents per 100 pounds if held over 24 but not over 36 months. The charge on mohair and mohair tags is 4 cents per 100 pounds and the time limit for reforwarding is 12 months. Lumber may be stopped for grading and storage at a charge of 3 cents per 100 pounds if reforwarded within 12 months from delivery.
