Washington, D. C. The subcommittee met in room 228, Old House Office Building, at 1 p. m., the Honorable J. Hardin Peterson (chairman of the subcommittee) presiding.

Present: Representative J. Hardin Peterson (chairman).

The hearing will come to order. At this time will all witnesses raise their right hands?

Mr. McCann. Please state your name.
Mr. JACKSON. Charles E. Jackson.
Mr. McCann. Your official position?
Mr. JACKSON. Assistant Deputy Coordinator of Fisheries.

Mr. McCann. Are you associated in any way with Fish and Wildlife?

Mr. JACKSON. I am also Assistant Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service.

Mr. McCann. How long have you been in the Fish and Wildlife Service?

Mr. JACKSON. About 11 years, including its preceding organization, the Bureau of Fisheries.

Mr. McCann. What are your duties as Assistant Director? Mr. JACKSON. I am primarily responsible for fisheries administration,

Mr. McCann. Do you mean by that the commercial fisheries administration?
