10 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION All electrical, mechanical and structural work required to upgrade base electrical distribution system. Replaces distribution lines, switchgear, transformers, and surveillance metering system. Converts electrical service in industrial area from 4,160 volt to 12,470 volt primary distribution system. Corrects safety violations in secondary distribution system basewide. All utilities and necessary support. 11. REQUIREMENT: As Required. PROJECT: Alteration of the existing 4,160 volt electrical distribution system to upgrade it to 12,470 volts and eliminate safety deficiencies. REQUIREMENT: This Air Logistics Center (ALC) provides direct support to several important weapons systems. Increased power demands have generated a need for a higher voltage distribution system to replace the existing substandard system which was built in the early forties to provide adequate depot level support for these weapons systems. This increased power is required for the depot industrial areas of the base. CURRENT SITUATION: The existing electrical distribution system is currently being operated at maximum capacity. Five separate metering points must now be used in the existing system. This project will reduce this to two metering points at a considerable savings. There is no flexibility or alternate avenues of providing power to existing facilities within the system Working space (clearances) is inadequate for operations and maintenance. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Failure to provide an adequate and updated modern electrical distribution system will necessitate the continued use of the existing unreliable power system now serving the industrial areas of the base to support important weapons systems, and a system with deficiencies that jeopardizes the life and safety of maintenance and operational personnel. AS OF OCTOBER 1, 1979 (% COMPLETE) N/A (PEOPLE) N/A N/A Oct 78 70 100 ay 79 EQUIPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROJECT WHICH WILL BE PROVIDED FROM OTHER 10. Mission or Major Functions: An Air Logistics Center responsible for the management and support for F/FB-111, E3A (AWACS) and A-10 aircraft, and ground communications-electronics meterological (C-E-M) systems. Provides depot level maintenance on above systems except E-3A (AWACS) aircraft. Technology Repair Center for ground C-E-M equipment, aircraft fluid-driven hydraulics/pneudraulics systems, and flight control instrumentation. Tenant Units: Military Airlift Command weather-rescue (WC-135, HC-130 and helicopters) squadrons, and military airlift (T-39) squadron. 9. 211-271 Future Projects: (a) Included in Following Program (FY 81): 6,020 SF 335 Overhaul Facility 10. Mission or Major Functions: The Aerospace Guidance and Metrology Center responsible for management of the single integrated calibrations and metrology program; and the single point repair center for inertial guidance systems for aircraft and missiles of the Air Force and other Department of Defense agencies. |
