8/9/77 AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURERS ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT This Agreement dated by and between the National Flood Insurers Association, an unincorporated association of insurers ("NFIA") with its headquarters at 1755 S. Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the United States Government ("HUD"); Whereas the Secretary of HUD (the "Secretary") is authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended, and the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973, as amended, both of which are codified at 42 U.S.C. 4001 et seq. (the "Act"), to establish and carry out a National Flood Insurance Program (the "Program") to be made available throughout the Nation for the protection of property owners; and Whereas the Secretary has delegated the authority to establish and carry out such Program under the Act to the Federal Insurance Administrator (the "Administrator"); and Whereas the Secretary and Administrator desire to enter into a revised agreement with NFIA pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 4051-4056, under which NFIA will carry out the operation of certain aspects of the Program and under which the relationship |
