BRIDGE ACROSS THE WACCAMAW RIVER AT OLD PIREWAY FERRY CROSSING, N. C.

Mr. BULWINKLE, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany H. R. 6859]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 6859) granting the consent of Congress to the State highway commission of North Carolina to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across Waccamaw River, at or near Old Pireway Ferry Crossing, N. C., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached on a similar bill.

So far as the interests committed to this Department are concerned I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill, H. R. 4302, Seventy-fourth Congress, first session, granting the consent of Congress to the State highway commission of North Carolina to construct a bridge across Waccamaw River.

DEAR MR. RAYBURN: Careful consideration has been given to the bill, H. R. 4302, transmitted with your letter of January 22, with request for a report thereon and such views relative thereto as the Department might desire to communicate. This bill would authorize the State highway commission of North Carolina to construct, maintain, and operate a bridge and approaches thereto across Waccamaw River about 2 miles east of the Old Pireway Ferry Crossing, in Columbus and Brunswick Counties, N. C.

Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 6987) authorizing the State of Louisiana and the State of Texas to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Sabine River at or near a point where Louisiana Highway No. 7 meets Texas Highway No. 87, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that the bill do pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

R. 6997) authorizing the State of Illinois and the State of Missouri to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Mississippi River between Kaskaskia Island, Ill., and St. Marys, Mo., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached, on a similar bill.
