GENERAL STATEMENT

Secretary SNYDER. Mr. Chairman, I have a prepared statement and if I may do so I will read it into the record.

Mr. Chairman and members of the subcommittee, I appreciate the opportunity of coming before your committee at this time for the purpose of going over with you a number of the appropriation items that are contained in the Treasury's portion of H. R. 3083, the Treasury and Post Office Department appropriation bill, 1950, as passed by the House.

EFFECT OF REDUCTION BY HOUSE

The bill which you have before you this afternoon provides for regular annual appropriations of $1,027,608,403.93. This amount was
