Chemical ammunition of the same classification containing incendiary or white phosphorus may be loaded and stowed together. Bursters (explosive), boosters (explosive), or supplementary charges (explosive) without detonators when shipped by, to or for the Departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the United States Government may be stowed with any of the articles named, except those in columns 3, 4, 10, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24. S. Government or unless of a type approved by the Bureau of Explosives. Each outside package or each projectile, bomb, mine or torpedo that is shipped unboxed must be plainly marked with the appropri ate descriptive name of the contents as: "Explosive projectile," "Explosive torpedo," "Explosive mine,' "Explosive bomb," "Hand grenades" or "Rifle gre nades." No label required except bombs, grenades, projectiles, or other containers loaded with a polsonous gas or liquid. Class A. and an explosive charge, either boxed or unboxed must bear the white "Poison gas" label. Stowage: Magazine or in a compartment entirely allotted for stowage of these articles, which compartment may be located: "On deck under cover." "Tween decks" or "Under deck." Outside containers: Strong wooden or metal boxes. Gross weight of a box containing more than one projectile, grenade, bomb or mine must not exceed 250 lb. Explosive projectiles, explosive torpedoes, explosive mines, or explosive bombs, exceeding 90 lbs. in weight, and explosive projectiles of not less than 434 inches in diameter, may be shipped without being boxed only by, for, or to the Departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the United States Government when securely blocked and braced in accordance with methods approved by the Bureau of Explosives. |
