When the Priest, ftanding before the Table, bath fo ordered the Bread and Wine, that be may with the more readiness and decency break the Bread before the People, and take the Cup into his hands, be fball fay the Prayer of Confecration, as followeth :

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of the ten

der mercy didft give thine only Son Jefus Chrift to fuffer death upon the Crofs for our redemption, who made there (by his one oblation of himself once offered) a full, perfect, and fufficient facrifice, oblation; and fatisfaction for the fins of the whole world; and did inftitute, and in his holy Gofpel command. us to continue a perpetual memory of that his precious death until his coming again; Hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly befeech thee, and grant that we receiving these thy creatures of bread and wine, according to thy Son our Saviour Jefus Chrift's holy' inftitution, in remembrance of his death and paffion, may be partakers of his moft bleffed body and blood: Who in the fame night that he was betrayed, (a) took bread, and when he had given thanks, (b) he brake it, and gave it to his difciples, faying, Take, eat, (c) this is my body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of me. O Omnipotent Lord God, who through a tender concern for the eternal welfare of us thy fallen creatures, didft not fpare thine own Son, but didft deliver him up for us all, Rom. viii. 32. who while he dwelt spon earth did ordain this facrament to commemorate his death, even the ignominious death of the cross, which he endured for our fakes; and has likewife commanded the obfervance of this inftitation, faying, do this in remembrance of me, Luke xxii. 19. As oft as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do fhew forth the Lord's death till he come. 1 Cor. xi. 26. takers of his moft precious body and blood, which, in a fpiritual manner, are conveyed to us therein, and grant farther, O Lord, that so often as we eat of this bread, and drink of this cup, we may do it in thankful remembrance of our blessed Saviour's death and paffion.

1. May the body of our Lord and Saviour Jefus Chrift, which is reprefented by the bread which I now give unto thee, be a spiritual préfervative unto thee; and afford thee grace fufficient to enable thee to live with Arictnefs of piety here, and attain for thee a kingdom of everlasting hap pinefs hereafter. Take therefore this holy bread, and eat it as a token of thy grateful remembrance, that Chrift died to fave thee, and that by faith ou doit gratefully feed on him in thy heart.

2. May the blood of our Lord Jefus Chrift, which is represented by this cup of wine, and which was thed for thy fake, be a fpiritual preferva tive unto thee, and influence thee to live in fuch a manner, as that, through the mercy of God, thou mayeft attain to everlasting life and hap pinefs. Do thou therefore drink it, as a token of thy grateful remem. brance of the death of Chrift.

If the Confecrated Bread or Wine be all spent before all have communicated; the Prieft is to confecrate more according to the Form before prefcribed: beginning at [Our Saviour Chrift in the fame night, &c.] for the bleffing of the bread; and at [Likewife after Supper, &c.] for the bleffing of the Cup.

When all have communicated, the Minifter all return to the Lord's Table, and reverently place upon it what remaineth of the confecrated Elements, covering the jame with a fair linen cloth.

Then fhall the Prieft fay the Lord's Prayer, the People repeating after bim every Petition.

UR Father which art in heaven; Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trefpaffes, as we forgive them that trefpafs against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Lord and heavenly Father, we thy humble fervants entirely defire thy Fatherly goodness, mercifully to accept this our facrifice of praife and thanksgiving most humbly befeeching thee to grant, that by the merits and death of thy Son Jefus Chrift, and through faith in his blood, we and all thy whole Church may obtain remiffion of our fins, and all other benefits of his paffion. we offer and prefent unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our fouls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and lively facrificeunto thee; humbly befeeching thee, that all we who are partakers of this holy Communion, may be fulfilled with thy grace and heavenly benediction. And although we be unworthy through our manifold fins to offer unto thee any facrifice; yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and fervice; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences, through Jefus Chrift our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghoft, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. alfo, O Lord of mercy, that thou hereby giveft us an affuring pledge, that we are beirs of God and joint beirs with Chrift, Rom. viii. 17. in the bleffed regions of unfading happinefs, which by his death and fufferings he has procured for us. And we most humbly in treat thee, O King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, to afford us fuch a portion of grace, that we may continue stedfast members of thy Holy Catholic Church, and may never wander there from by inclining to herefy or fchifm; but that we may act as becomes our holy profeffion, leading lives of the strictest piety and virtue, and in all things conform ourfelves to the rule which thou haft prefcribed for us. And this we moft humbly beg, for the fake of our Lord and Saviour Jefus Chrift, to whom with thee, O Father, and the Holy Spirit, be afcribed all honour, glory and praife, now and for evermore.
