The language is studied and severe: it seems to be
a production of Dr Davy's pen, from whose collection it came at
his death, 1839. A correction, on f. 26, is in his hand.

This is a small tract, a copy of which used to be put into the hands of every student at matriculation.

These used to be made in Latin until 1842: when, for the better
encouragement of medical study, the medium language was
changed; and the Prize opened to competition when the routine
of compliment was exhausted. (See Cambridge Calendar, p.
