On p. 340, is a full allusion to the execution of T. à Becket. At the end is placed a quotation from 'versificator quidam cantuariensis qui scripsit carmine Archiepiscopos Cantuarienses' upon the character of Richard, Bp. of Ely, and strongly reflecting upon this Nigellus. In the yeare of our redemption 1459, and in the 37 yeare of the

most noble and vertuous king, henry the 6, this holy father and profound doctor was borne and Christened at Beverley in the province of Yorke: ends, and that wee be dwellers therein, and that our posteritie may once againe peacably serve him in the same faythe all the dayes of our lives, and after in the world to come glorefie him in his heavenly kingdome, where he reigneth for ever and ever. Amen.'
