Agricultural Department Appropriation Bill for 1937

Mr. BENNETT. About three men.

Dr. LOWDERMILK. It is understaffed at the present time; it is not entirely a complete set-up. We keep very careful weather records, as well as collect other important data.

Mr. BENNETT. We need more land there. We have not been able to carry out the originally planned experiments because we have not money enough to do it.

NUMBER, LOCATIONS, PERSONNEL, AND EXPENDITURES FOR EXPERIMENTAL STATIONS

Mr. CANNON. How many areas like that do you expect to establish in the United States; how many have you established now, and how many do you expect to establish?

Mr. BENNETT. We will have 22 in operation this year.

Mr. CANNON. Will you put in the record a statement showing where they are?

Mr. BENNETT. Yes, sir.

Mr. CANNON. How many additional ones do you expect to establish, if this money is allowed?

Dr. LOWDERMILK. We will have a total of 27.

Mr. CANNON. And they cover representative sections of the country?

Dr. LOWDERMILK. Yes, sir.

Mr. CANNON. What is the cost, first, of your plant; second, of your personnel; and, third, of your equipment?

We would like to have you supplement your testimony with that

statement.
