a The Day of the Lord is great, and very terrible; and who can abide it? Who among us can dwell with the devouring Fire? Who amongst us can dwell with everlasting Burnings? Therefore alfo now, faith the Lord, turn unto the Lord your God; for he is gracious and merciful, flow to Anger, and of great Kindness, and repenteth him of the Evil.

The RIGHTEOUS and WICKED compared.

b Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: For they fhall eat the. Fruit of their Doings. But, woe unto the wicked, it fhall be ill with him: For the Reward of his Hands fhall be given him.

The righteous is more excellent than his Neighbour.

The righteous fhall be recompenfed in the Earth; much more the wicked and the Sinner.

e A good Man obtaineth Favour of the Lord; but a Man of wicked Devices will he condemn.

f He that diligently feeketh Good, procureth Favour; but he that feeketh Mischief, it shall come unto him.

8 God will not caft away a perfect Man: neither will he help the Evil-doers.

h The righteous is delivered out of Trouble; and the wicked cometh in his ftead.

i Many Sorrows fhall be to the wicked: but he that trufteth in the Lord, Mercy fhall compass him about.

a To

a To keep the Statutes, and Judgments, which the Lord hath commanded us; this is our Wifdom, and our Understanding: But Wickedness is Madness and Folly.

b They are Fools that make a Mock at Sin, and fay in their Hearts, There is no God. But whofo keepeth the Law is wife.

с

c The Way of the wicked is as Darkness ; They know not at what they stumble: But the Path of the juft is as the fhining Light, that fhineth more and more unto the perfect Day.

d He that walketh uprightly, walketh furely but he that perverteth his Ways, fhall be known.

e The Righteoufnefs of the perfect fhall direct his Way but the wicked fhall fall by his own Wickedness.

f Whosoever committeth Sin, is the Servant of Sin: but where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty: and, whom the Son fhall make free, they fhall be free indeed.

The Fear of the Lord is clean: And, God is good to fuch as are of a clean Heart. He that hath clean Hands, and a pure Heart, fhall afcend into the Hill of the Lord. But, How abominable and filthy is Man, that drinketh Iniquity like Water? The Hypocrites in Heart heap up Wrath: for their Life is among the unclean. The Workers of Iniquity are corrupt; they are altogether become filthy.

a The

a The wicked have made themselves vile: but they that ferve the Lord, are precious in his Sight, and honourable.

b The Curfe of the Lord is in the House of the wicked but he bleffeth the Habitation of the just.

c God giveth to the Sinner Travel, to gather, and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God.

d The Fear of the Lord prolongeth Days: but the Years of the wicked fhall be fhortned.

e Treasures of Wickedness profit nothing: but Righteousness delivereth from Death.

The wicked is fnared by the Tranfgreffion of his Lips: but the juft fhall come out of Trouble. g The Fear of the wicked it fhall come upon him but the Defire of the righteous fhall be granted.

h The wicked flee when no Man purf eth: but the righteous are bold as a Lion.

i The Hope of the righteous fhall be Gladness; but the Expectation of the wicked shall perish.

* He that keepeth the Commandment, keepeth his own Soul: but he that defpifeth his Ways fhall die.

The wicked is driven away in his Wickednefs: but the righteous hath Hope in his Death."] m When it goeth well with the righteous, the City rejoiceth and, when the wicked perish, there is fhouting.

The Memory of the juft is bleffed: but the Name of the wicked fhall rot.

Righteousness exalteth a Nation: but Sin is a Reproach to any People.

The Wages of Sin is Death: but the Gift of God is eternal Life.

d Indignation and Wrath, Tribulation and Anguifh, fhall be upon every Soul of Man that doth Evil: But Glory, Honour, and Peace, to every Man that worketh Good.

e They that fleep in the Duft of the Earth fhall awake; fome to everlasting Life, and fome to Shame, and everlafting Contempt.

f When the Son of Man fhall come in his Glory, and all the holy Angels with him, then fhall be gathered before him all Nations: and he fhall feparate them one from another, as a Shepherd divideth his Sheep from the Goats: and he fhall fet the Sheep on his right Hand, but the Goats on the left. Then fhall he fay unto them on his right Hand, Come, ye bleffed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you, from the Foundation of the World. Then fhall he fay alfo unto them on the left Hand, Depart from me, ye curfed, into everlafting Fire, prepared for the Devil and his Angels: And these shall go away into everlafting Punishment; but the righteous into Life eternal.
