a If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thy felf.

b Wisdom is a Defence, and Money is a Defence; but the Excellency of Knowledge is, that Wisdom giveth Life to them that have it.

c The Way of Life is above, to the wise; that he may depart from Hell beneath.

d Thy Word, O Lord, is a Lamp unto my Feet, and a Light unto my Path: The Entrance of thy Words giveth Light.

e Fools make a Mock at Sin: but a Man of Understanding walketh uprightly.

f The Foolishness of Man perverteth his Way, and his Heart fretteth against the Lord.

8 He that refuseth Instruction despiseth his own Soul: But he is in the Way of Life that keepeth Instruction.

h He that believeth not in the Name of the only begotten Son of God, is condemned already. And this is the Condemnation, that Light is come into the World, and Men love Darkness rather than Light, because their Deeds are evil.

i Woe unto them that call Evil Good, and Good Evil ; that put Darkness for Light, and Light for Darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.

k Happy is he that condemneth not himself, in that thing which he alloweth. For whatsoever is not of Faith, is Sin.

But, the Wisdom of this World cometh to nought.

They are wise to do Evil; but to do Good they have no knowledge. Lo! they have rejected the Word of the Lord; and what Wisdom is in them?

Meditation, b Take heed unto thy self, and an

to thy Doctrine; continue in them; meditate upon these things; give thy self wholly to them ; that thy profiting may appear unto all.

c Confider thy Ways: ponder the Path of thy Feet; and let all thy Ways be establifhed.

d We ought to give earnest heed to the things which we have heard; left at any time we fhould let them slip.

e Remember now thy Creator in the Days of thy Youth; while the evil Day comes not, nor the Years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

+ Know, this Day, and consider it in thine Heart, that the Lord he is God. Stand still, and regard the wondrous Works of God, and the Operations of his Hands: and wisely consider of his doing

8 Look unto the Heavens, and fee, and behold the Clouds, which are higher than thou. Lift up thine Eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things.

h Remember the marvellous Works which the Lord hath done, his Wonders, and the Judgments

Commandment of the Apostles of the Lord and Saviour.

a Remember the Words of the Lord Jesus ; and the Words which were spoken of the ApoAtles of our Lord Jesus Chrift,

b In the Day of Prosperity be joyful: But in the Day of Adversity confider: God also hath set the one over against the other.

c It is better to go into the House of Mourne ing, than to go to the House of Feasting; for that is the end of all Men, and the living will Jay it to his Heart.

& Oh that Men were wise, that they underfood this, that they would consider their latter End; and not put far away. the evil Day!

e If a Man live many Years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the Days of Darkness; for they Thall be many. All that cometh is Vanity Watchfulnefs. f We are all the Children of Light,

and the Children of the Day: We are not of the Night, nor of Darkness: therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch, and be sober.

& See that ye walk circumfpectly, not as Fools, but as wise; redeeming the Time, because the Days are evil.

h Be sober; be vigilant; because your Adver.. fary, the Devil, as a roaring Lion, walketh about, feeking whom he may devour.
