In this third edition various alterations have been made, though the bulk of the book is not thereby increased. It has been the object in this edition to simplify still further the elements of Greek grammar, and with this view, to lead the pupil to a consideration of the etymological principles laid down in Mr. Long's "Observations on the Study of the Latin and Greek Languages." This, however, has only been done so far as would harmonize with the general plan of the book, without making it differ materially from the preceding editions.-Preface.
