Title 14-Aeronautics and Space

NOTE: Title 14 was reorganized as follows, 24 F.R. 3574, May 5, 1959:

1. The heading of the title was changed to read as set forth above.

2. The title formerly contained two chapters, Chapter I-Civil Aeronautics Board (Parts 1-399), and Chapter II-Civil Aeronautics Administration, Department of Commerce (Part 400 et seq.). These chapters and parts were redesignated and reassigned, as follows: a. Chapter I-Federal Aviation Agency (Parts 1-199).

b. Chapter II-Civil Aeronautics Board (Parts 200-399).

c. Chapter III-Federal Aviation Agency (Part 400 et seq.).

3. Former Chapter XII-National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Parts 12001299), of Title 32, was transferred to this title as Chapter V-National Aeronautics and Space Administration, without change in part numbers.

CHAPTER III-FEDERAL AVIATION AGENCY

CODIFICATION: The terminology used in this chapter was amended in the following

respects:

1. Wherever the term "Territory of Alaska" was used in the caption or text, the words "State of Alaska" were substituted in lieu thereof, 24 F.R. 1121, Feb. 13, 1959.

2. Wherever the term "Civil airway" was used in the caption or text, the words "Federal airway" were substituted therefor and such other words as the context of the regulations required, 24 F.R. 4650, June 9, 1959.

NOTE: Section 1501 (a) of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, Public Law 85-726, 85th Congress, 72 Stat. 731, provides the following:

Sec. 1501. (a) All orders, determinations, rules, regulations, permits, contracts, certificates, licenses, rates, and privileges which have been issued, made, or granted, or allowed to become effective, by the President, the Department of Commerce, the Secretary of Commerce, the Administrator of Civil Aeronautics, the Civil Aeronautics Board, the Airways Modernization Board, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Agriculture, or the Postmaster General, or any court of competent jurisdiction, under any provision of law repealed or amended by this Act, or in the exercise of duties, powers, or functions which, under this Act, are vested in the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Agency or the Civil Aeronautics Board, and which are in effect at the time this section takes effect, shall continue in effect according to their terms until modified, terminated, superseded, set aside, or repealed by the Administrator or the Board, as the case may be, or by any court of competent jurisdiction, or by operation of law.
