LATIMER-Report... 90 91 96 .101 .114 114 NEXT ANNUAL CONVENTION. Denver, Sept. 10th, 1889. NOTE. Should the members discover errors in this report, I can only say that the stenographer labored under unusual disadvantages. Sometimes the noise from the pavement outside the convention hall was deafening; at others, the light was poor, and at others the members who spoke did not speak with sufficient clearness and plainness to enable a clear record of their remarks to be taken. Both the stenographer and myself have worked faithfully to correct all apparent incongruities and contradictory utterances, so as to present the language of the speakers as nearly as possible as they intended it. I hope we have met with a measure of success, and where we have failed, that members will overlook the failure. I have been materially assisted in the preparation of these proceedings by the following named gentlemen: E. B. Groover (official stenographer), of Cleveland, Ohio; A. C. Olney, W. G. Jeffords, E. H. Reed and G. F. Parker, of Waycross, Ga.; and to the representatives of the railroad journals who attended the meetings of the convention, viz.: A. J. Stott, of the Railway Age; Mr. Browning, of the Railroad Service Gazette; and to Mr. R. G. Prout, of the Railroad Gazette, especially, for lithographs. This report has been delayed on account of the large amount of work required to get it in proper shape, and for the purpose of securing as many advertisements as possible. Very truly, H. W. REED, under progress whereby we hope to arrange with railway managements to pass all delegates (and their wives), who hold a certificate, issued by the Association, showing him to be a delegate to this convention.
