SAN GABRIEL RIVER, TEXAS Mr. BEVILL. The cost of the San Gabriel River, Texas project has increased in part because of $125,000 for cultural resource preservation. What specifically is involved in the increased estimate? General DACEY. Sir, the increase in cultural resource preservation is needed at Granger Lake to protect an archeology site on the north bank of the existing downstream river channel from flood releases. BUFFALO BA YOU AND TRIBUTARIES, TEXAS Mr. BEVILL. What is the reason for using operation and maintenance funds for planning of the Addicks and Barker Dams in Texas? General DACEY. Sir, the planning studies during fiscal years 1984 and 1985 for the Dam Safety Assurance Program are being accomplished using Operations and Maintenance funds in accordance with established policy. LOREAN AND CALLOWAY BRANCHES, HURST, TEXAS Mr. BEVILL. What is the status of the Lorean and Calloway Branches, Hurst, Texas, Section 205 project? General DACEY. Sir, the plans and specifications for Calloway Branch have been completed. The local sponsor, the City of Hurst, Texas has essentially completed land acquisition for the project. Award of the initial construction contract is scheduled for April 1985. The Detailed Project Report for Lorean Branch has been completed and is currently under review. Upon approval, plans and specifications will be initiated. The relocations required for this project are being closely coordinated with the City of Hurst, the Texas Highway Department and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. Construction is scheduled for initiation in early fiscal year 1986. BARDWELL LAKE, TEXAS Mr. BEVILL. What changes are being made in special recreation use fees in fiscal year 1986 at Bardwell Lake, Texas? General DACEY. Sir, no changes are planned in the use of special recreation use fees. Prior to fiscal year 1985, special recreation use fees were provided by a separate appropriation to those projects where fees are charged the public for the use of recreational facilities. Beginning in fiscal year 1985, these funds are included as a part of the Operation and Maintenance Appropriation. DARDANELLE AND GREERS FERRY PROJECTS, ARKANSAS Mr. BEVILL. What is the basis for the increased estimate for land acquisition and flowage easements at the Dardanelle and Greers Ferry projects in fiscal year 1986? General DACEY. Sir, due to topographic errors in the maps used for the initial acquisition of land and flowage easements, additional real estate is required at both the Dardanelle Lock and Dam and the Greers Ferry Lake for project operations. Approximately 115 acres are required at Dardanelle Lock and Dam and approximately 25 acres are required at Greers Ferry Lake, each containing a portion of fee simple and a portion of flowage easement. |
