PROJECT: Alters 83,124 SF of substandard space to fit and provides adequate storage and arms vault for USAR units at USAFRC. D. REQUIREMENT: Required to provide assigned units with the minimum adequate functional areas required for the attainment and maintenance of individual/unit training and readiness standards. The existing USAR buildings_ on the AFRC require alteration and rehabilitation for units to be relocated to the AFRC from Fort MacArthur, Hazard Park, Los Angeles, and Bell, CA. The project also provides new construction of a USAR Printing Plant and arms vault. c. CURRENT SITUATION: The existing USARC portion of the AFRC consists of a total of 83,124 SF of permanent, semi-permanent and temporary WW II and later vintage buildings. There is insufficient admin, classroom, classroom support areas, admin area, unit storage, special training areas and is lacking arms storage. This project has been delayed due to the base realignment studies regarding Fort MacArthur and its impact on the LOSAL AFRC. d. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: If this project is not approved, the existing facilities would continue to be functionally inadequate for unit training administration and there would be insufficient functional space to accommodate all the Army Reserve units planned for relocation to the Los Alamitos as a result of the closure of Fort MacArthur by the end of FY 82.
