23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends;

உய எழுந்துபுறப்பட்டுத்தன்தகப்பனிடத்துக்குப்போ னான். அப்பொழுது அவன் தூரமாயிருக்கையில் தகப்பன் அவனைக்கண்டு, உருக்கமாயிரங்கி ஓடிவந்து, அவ யகழுத்தைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டு அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்தான். உக குமாரன் அவனைநோக்கி, தகப்பனே, தேவனுக் கும் உமக்கும் விரோதமாய்ப்பாவஞ்செய்தேன் ல் உம்முடையகுமாரனென்று அழைக்கப்படுவதற்கு நான் பாத்திரனல்லவென்று சொன்னபொழுது,

உஉ தகப்பன் தன் வேலைக்காரரை நோக்கி, நீங்கள் (போய) முக்கியமான வஸ்திரத்தைக்கொண்டுவந்து இவ க்குடுத்தி இவனுடையகைக்கு மோதிரத்தையுங்கால்க குப்பாத் இரட்சைகளையுங்கொடு த்து,

உங பின்பு கொழுத்த கன்றைக் கொண்டுவந்தடித்துச் சமையுங்கள்.

உச எனகுமாரனாகிய இவன் மரித்தான். மறுபடியும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறான். இவன் காணாமற்போனான்.இப்பொழு துகாணப்பட்டான். ஆகையால் நாம்பொசித்து, மகிழ்ச் சியாயிருக்கக்கடவோமென்றான். அந்தப்படியவர்கள் சந் தோஷப்படத்தொடங்கனார்கள்.

உரு அவனுடைய மூத்தகுமாரனவயலிலிருந்தான். அவ னதிரும்பிவீட்டுக்குச் சமீபமாய்வந்தபொழுது, கீதவாததி யத்தையும் நடனக்களிப்பையுங்கேட்டு,

உசா வேலைக்காரரிலொருவனையழைத்து, இதெனனவெ ன்றுவிசாரித்தான்.

உஎ வேலைக்காரன் அவனைநோக்கி, உன் சகோதரன வந்தான். உன் தகப்பன் அவனைச் சுகத்தோடே திருமபப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டபடியினாலே கொழுத்த கன்றையடிப்பித்

தானென்றான்.

உஅ அப்பொழுது அவன் கோபம் அடைந்து, உள்ளே போகமனசில்லாதிருந்தான். ஆதலால் தகப்பன வெளியே வந்து, அவனைமிகவுமவேண்டிக்கொண்டழைத்தான். உக அவன் தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரத்தியுத்தரமாகச்சொன் னது, இவ்வளவுவருஷம் நான் உமக்கூழியஞ்செய்து, துகற்பனையை ஒருக்காலும்மீறி நடக்கவில்லை. அப்படியிரு ந்தும், நான் என் சிநேகிதரோடேமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கும்பு டிக்கு, ஒருக்காலும் நீர் ஒரு ஆட்டுக்குட்டியை எனக்குக்

30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad; for this thy brother was dead, and, is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

CHAPTER XVI.

1 The parable of the unjust steward. 14 Christ reproveth the hypocrisy of the covetous Pharisees. 19 The rich glutton, and Lazarus the beggar.

AND he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.

கய உமமுடையபொருள்களைவேசிகளோடே பட்சித்த மதுகுமாரனாகிய இவனவந்த பாழுது, கொழுத்தகன வனுக்காக அடிப்பித்தீ ான்றான்.

ஙக அதற்குத்தகப்பன்சொன்னது, மானே, நீயெப் பொழுதும் என்னோடிருக்கிறாய். அல்லாமலும் எனக்குண டானயாவும் உன்னுடையவைகளாயிருக்கின்றன்

கூஉ உனசகோதரனாகிய இவனமரித்தான். மறுபடியும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறான. காணாமற்போனான். (இப்பொழுது) காணப்பட்டான். ஆனபடியினாலே நாம் மகிழ்ச்சியாகிக் களிப்படையவேண்டுமேயென்றுசொன்னானென்றார்.

[(க) அநீதியுள்ள உக்கிராணக்காரனை உவமையாகச்சொ ன்னது. (ய)சு) பரிசேயருடையபொருளாசையையும் வஞ் சனையையுங்கடிந்தது. (யகூ) ஐசுவரியவானையும் எளியவ னையும் உவமையாகச்சொன்னது.)

அன்றியும் அவர்தமமுடைய சீஷரோடுசொன்னதாவது ஐசுவரியமுள்ள மனித னுக்கு ஒரு உக்கிராணக்காரனிருந் அவன் எசமானுடைய ஆஸ்திகளை அழிக்கிறதாக வனுக்கறிவித்தார்கள்.

உ அப்பொழுது எசமான அவனையழைத்து உன்னைக்கு றித்து நான் இப்படிக்கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன். நீயினமே ராணக்காரனா பிருக்கக்கூ கூடாது. ஆகையால் ககிராணக்கணக்கைக்கொடு என்றான்.

ங அ பாழுது உக. ராணக்காரன் தனக்குள்ளேயெ ணணிககொண்ட -தாவது, என எசமான உக்கிராணவிசா ரிப்பைபென்னிலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறபடியினாலே, என்னசெய்யலாம் (நிலங்) குத்துகிறதற்குப்பெலனில்லை. இரககவெட்கமாயிருக்கின்றது.

உக்கிராணவிசாரிப்பைவிட்டுத் தள்ளப்படும்பொழு

என்னைத்தங்கள் வீடுகளிறசேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதற்கா ன் (சிநேகிதர்க) ண்டாகும் படிக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியவ

கைதெரியவந்ததெனறெண்ணி,

ரு தன எசமானிடத்திற்கடன்பட்டவர்களை ஒருவ ருவனாக அழைத்து, முதலாவது வந்தவனைநோக்கி, நீயென எசமானிடத்திற்பட்ட கடன் எவ்வளவு என்றான். அதற் கவன், நூ றுகுடம் எண் ணயயென்றான.

சு அப்பொழுது உக்கிராணக்காரன் அவனைநோக்கி, நீ உன்சீட்டையெடுத்துச் சீக்கிரமாய உளுக்கார்ந்து, ஐம

Then said he to another, And how much west thou? And he said, An hundred measures of And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.

8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

16 The Law and the Prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
