The General Services Administration is organized much like a

large corporation doing business in a number of different

fields.

It might be called a conglomerate.

The information in this booklet is about GSA's Public Buildings

Service.

PBS is responsible for the design, construction,

operation and maintenance of most Federal buildings. PBS

construction projects range from small border stations, which

$90 million John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

They include office buildings, research laboratories, hospitals,

museums, custom houses, courthouses and Social Security

Administration Program Centers.

In addition to our new

construction, PBS's Repair and Alteration projects range from

small floor or roof repairs to multi-million dollar extension
