The index given below relates only to the repositories which contain medieval manuscripts. All the reports on the archives of boroughs and cathedrals have, however, been included; most of them contain some medieval records. A useful list of the reports, together with an index of the collections examined, is appended to the Fifteenth Report, pp. 51-78; and a similar list is published with each of the later reports and calendars of manuscripts. There is also a list in the Catalogue of the Record Publications, etc. (No. 539). In the following index the numerals refer to reports, unless accompanied by the title of a separate collection.
