Sec. 19. And be it further enacted, That if any of the gold or filver coins which fhall be ftruck or coined at the faid mint, fhall be debased or made worfe as to the proportion of fine gold or fine filver therein contained, or fhall be of lefs weight or value than the fame ought to be pursuant to the directions of this act, through the default or with the connivance of any of the officers or perfons who fhall be employed at the faid mint, for the purpofe of profit or gain, or otherwife with a fraudulent intent, and if any of the faid officers or perfons fhall embezzle any of the metals which fhall at any time be committed to their charge for the purpofe of being coined, or any of the coins which fhall be ftruck or coined at the faid mint, every fuch officer or perfon who fhall commit any or either of the faid offences, fhall be deemed guilty of felony, and fhall fuffer death. Sec. 20. And be it further enacted, That the money of account of the United States fhall be fed in dol- expreffed in dollars or units, difmes or tenths, cents or hundredths, and milles or thoufandths, a difine being the tenth part of a dollar, a cent the hundredth part of a dollar, a mille the thoufandth part of a dollar, and that all accounts in the public offices and all proceedings in the courts of the United States fhall be kept and had in conformity to this regulation.

An Act fupplementary to the Act for the establish ment and Support of Light-Houfes, Beacons, Buoys, and Public Piers.

E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of Reprefentatives of the of beacons, United States of America in Congress affembled, borne till That all expenfes which fhall accrue from the July 1793. first day of July next, inclufively, for the necessary support, maintenance, and repairs of all light-houfes, beacons, buoys, the stakeage of channels, on the fea coaft, and public piers, fhall continue to be defrayed by the United States, until the firft day of July, in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three, notwithstanding fuch light-houses, beacons, or public piers, with the lands and tenements thereunto belonging, and the jurisdiction of the fame, fhall not in the mean time be ceded to, or vested in the United States, by the Aate or states refpectively, in which the fame may be, and that the said time be further allowed, to the states refpectively to make fuch ceffion.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Secretary of the Treafury be authorized to caufe to be provided, erected, and placed, a floating beacon, and as many buoys, as may be neceffary for the fecurity of navigation, at, and near the entrance of the harbor of Charlefton, in the state of South-Carolina. And alfo to have affixed three floating beacons in the bay of Chefapeak; one at the north end of Willoughby's Spit, another at the tail of the

CHAPTER XVIII.

An Act to erect a Light-Houfe on Montok Point in the State of New-York.

E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of Reprefentatives of the United States of America, in Congress affembled, That as soon as the conditions jurifdiction of fuch land on Montok point in on Montok the state of New-York, as the Prefident of the United States fhall deem fufficient and most New-York. proper for the convenience and accommodation of a light-house fhall have been ceded to the United States, it fhall be the duty of the Secretary of the Treafury, to provide by contract, which shall be approved by the Prefident of the United States, for building a light-house thereon, and for furnishing the fame with all neceffary fupplies, and alfo to agree for the falaries or wages of the perfon or perfons who may be appointed by the Prefident for the fu perintendance and care of the fame; and the Prefident is hereby authorized to make the faid appointments. That the number and difpofi

others, and as far as is practicable, prevent
mistakes.
