An Act making certain Appropriations therein

Sec. 1.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Reprefentatives of the United States of America in Congress affembled, That appropria- there be granted and appropriated the following fums for the following purposes, to wit: For the discharge of a balance to the commiffioners appointed under the act of Congrefs of the fifteenth of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, two thousand seven hundred and eighty feven dollars and eighty eight cents; For additional falary to the first clerk of the commiffioners for fettling accounts between the United States and individual ftates, one hundred and eighty seven dollars and ninety one cents; For defraying the expenfe of ftating and printing certain public accounts, pursuant to the order of the Houfe of Reprefentatives of the thirtieth of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, eight hundred dollars; For discharging the accounts of officers of the courts of the United States, jurors and witneffes, in aid of the fund heretofore appropriated, feventeen thousand dollars; For making good deficiencies in former appropriations, for defraying the expense

of the enumeration of the inhabitants of the Specific United States, four thoufand fix hundred and approprianinety five dollars, and fifty nine cents; For tions. difcharging certain accounts against the treafury department, to the end of the year one thoufand feven hundred and ninety one, including a fum of fix hundred dollars, for furnifhing the fupervisors of the revenue with fcrew-prefles, feals, and other articles, one thousand nine hundred and fifty five dollars,, and fixty one cents; For a balance due to lieutenant John Freeman of the late Maryland line, on account of fubfiftence for the years one thousand seven hundred and eighty two and one thousand seven hundred and eighty three, forty one dollars and seventy five cents; For compenfations to the clerks of the acting commiffioner of army accounts, and contingencies of his office, one thoufand three hundred and twenty nine dollars and fixteen cents; For additional compenfations to the doorkeepers of the House of Reprefentatives, pursuant to a refolution of the Houfe, of the twenty fourth of March laft, feven hundred dollars; For the discharge of such demands against the United States, not otherwife provided for, as shall have been ascertained and admitted, in due course of settlement at the treasury, and which are of a nature, according to the ufage thereof, to require payment in fpecie, five thousand dollars: All which faid fums, amounting together, to thirty four thousand four hundred aud ninety feven dollars and ninety cents, fhall and may be paid out of the funds following, any, or all of them; namely; the furplufes which may out of what remain of appropriations heretofore made, af- funds payter fatisfying the purposes of fuch appropriations; monies which have been paid into the

treafury, in confequence of balances which have been found due from individuals, relating to tranfactions prior to the prefent government of the United States; the furplus, not heretofore appropriated, of the duties on imports and tonnage, which accrued to the end of the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety one.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That fo much of the aforefaid furplus of the duties on expence of imports and tonnage, which accrued to the end of the year one thoufand feven hundred to military and ninety one, as may be neceffary, fhall be and is hereby appropriated, in addition to the provifion heretofore made, towards defraying the expenfes, which fhall have been incurred in the execution of the act for railing and adding another regiment to the military eftablifhment of the United States, and for making farther provifion for the protection of the frontiers, within the limits of the fum of three hundred and twelve thousand, fix hundred and eighty fix dollars, and twenty cents thereby authorized; and towards reimburfing any fums, which may have been borrowed, or advances of money which may have been obtained for that purpose.

E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of Reprefentatives of the United States of America in Congrefs affembled, N. WeftThat the laws of the territory north-weit of ern territory how to the river Ohio, that have been or hereafter be publishmay be enacted by the governor and judges buted, &c. thereof, shall be printed under the direction of the Secretary of State, and two hundred copies thereof, together with ten fets of the laws of the United States, fhall be delivered to the faid governor and judges, to be distributed among the inhabitants for their information, and that a like number of the laws of the United States fhall be delivered to the governor and judges of the territory south-west of the river Ohio.
